Project Description
/details
The Castagna Antincendi water mist system has an integrated technology that includes the control, suppression and extinguishment of fires; it is among the most effective water extinguishing means currently on the market.
This type of system makes it possible to limit the development and expansion of a fire; the discharge time is generally long, similar to that of a traditional sprinkler system, even though with significantly lower flow rates.
Castagna Antincendi build low and high pressure water mist systems; these systems, in their turn, are wet/dry or deluge types, depending on the case histories.
Water mist uses water spray in finely divided drops. Water mist is remarkably effective in extinguishing fire as it is marked by three different actions:
-
- a thermal cooling action, determined by the enormous absorption of the quantity of heat
- mechanical action of decreasing the concentration of oxygen, originated from the considerable quantity of quickly produced water vapour
- an action of attenuation of the thermal power transmitted by irradiation, determined by the high quantity of fine particles and vapour dispersed in the air, followed by the combination of absorption and scattering phenomena
- Water mist systems have the advantage of achieving a significant decrease (up to 1/3) of the quantities of water used, minimising the damage caused
The stainless steel components and pipes of contained diameters also make it possible to reduce installation costs; they make the system lighter and they decrease the volumes at the system level. Among the advantages we also include the speed of installation, owing to the press-fitting system.
Every water mist system is fed by a fire pump of a more contained size compared to those of a traditional sprinkler system; this translates into smaller pumping stations, with reduced electrical absorption and spaces.
/applications
