Firefighting system with pump units and accumulation tanks
The most common type of firefighting water supply is definitely the pumping system based on one or more auto-start pumping units and an accumulation tank.
Firefighting water systems guarantee high safety standards daily, to companies and workplaces; firefighting pumps are at the basis of their functionality and efficiency. These pumps must guarantee an always high degree of reliability, thanks also to a design and construction perfectly devised to comply with all characteristics of the place where they will be used.
There are numerous construction variables: depending on the system’s water demand, it is necessary to select the pumping unit (electric and/or diesel) based on the characteristics of the pump room, the water reserve and the level of reliability of the water supply that we wish to achieve.
Pump rooms or pumping stations are the rooms where firefighting pumps are housed, along with all necessary accessories. In most cases a water reserve is attached to it, which should be studied based on the performance to provide, position and type (underground, modular metal, concrete).
Please note that when building a pumping station with attached accessories, the inspection and functional tests are of fundamental importance to guarantee the functionality of the entire system.
